Energy Conservation for Metal Finishing to be discussed at SMF 2009

“Energy Conservation for Metal Finishing” now on tap for the Southern Metal Finishing Conference

The Surface Finishing Academy is pleased to announce a last minute addition to the agenda for the 6th Annual Southern Metal Finishing Conference in being held in Charleston, SC next month.  Jerry Phillips of Finishing Concepts, Inc. has agreed to present a short technical discussion titled, “Energy Conservation in Metal Finishing” on Monday, September 14th, at 10:00 am.

The presentation will evaluate case studies and compare the costs of the systems before and after energy efficient strategies were used.  Examples will be used that demonstrate the importance of proper component selection and system design and will show attendees how that can pay large dividends in resource usage.  In addition to the cost savings benefits, the analysis of resource conservation will be covered as it relates to fuels, trees, cars and carbon dioxide emissions, and show how “Green Benefits” provide manufacturers with an additional marketing tool to show existing and potential customers and investors.

Jerry Phillips is president of Finishing Concepts, Inc., and holds numerous degrees in Science and Engineering, and has attained the (CEF-2) designation from the AESF.  Twenty-five (25) years of experience has provided him an opportunity to design and fabricate multiple industrial processing lines and facility upgrades.  His underlying interest has always been to create efficient facilities that can maintain low operating cost while meeting production requirements. 

The Southern Metal Finishing Conference has been held annually since 2003, and has gained a following of dedicated metal finishing professionals of all kinds, from all over the United States and abroad.   The conference combines two days of educational workshops and technical sessions, with a supplier tabletop exposition, and some very unique networking opportunities to socialize – in a very charming and historic atmosphere.
